Play therapy is a therapeutic approach used primarily with children. It allows them to express their feelings, thoughts, and experiences through play, which is their natural form of communication.
Parenting facilitation is court ordered and involves working with parents to improve their parenting skills and strategies. It helps in resolving conflicts, enhancing parent-child relationships, and creating a positive family environment.
Please bring a form of identification, payment method and any relevant medical or psychological records. If you're seeing us for child therapy, you might also bring any notes or documents from your child's school or previous therapists.
We accept credit/debit cards transactions. Payment is due at the time of service.
Have your child wear something you are okay with getting messy.
The length of the therapeutic process varies with need. A number of factors impact this process including you/your child’s/your family’s motivation and the severity of the struggle for which you/your child/your family is presenting.
Intake appointments typically last between 60 and 90 minutes. Regular therapy sessions are approximately 50–55 minutes in length.
I will meet with you regularly to keep you informed about your child’s progress in therapy and to support you in developing parenting strategies tailored to your child’s unique needs. Parent consultations will be scheduled every 4–5 play therapy sessions.
Preparing your child for their first play therapy session is important. You can let them know they’ll be spending time with a kind helper in a playroom full of toys. If your child asks why they are going, that’s a normal sign of curiosity or uncertainty. Reassure them by sharing a few simple details about what the first session will be like and what the playroom looks like.
Before your child begins therapy, consent from all legal guardians is required. For ongoing sessions, it is most effective when all primary caregivers can be actively involved in the process, as this greatly supports your child’s progress. However, I also understand that having every caregiver present at each session may not always be possible.
